Flashing a custom rom on my POCO M2 pro in 2025

 Hello everyone! What's up? I hope you're all doing great. As the title says, I flashed a custom rom onto my phone! And this phone has been my daily driver for the past 3 years.  

--> Why did I flash my daily driver phone? 

Well, this phone is no longer supported. POCO dropped the support for this phone in 2023. And I had been using it as is till now. Then I got to know about Custom ROMs after watching a video regarding it. After I got to know about the custom roms, I thought that I should also flash one onto my device. After a few weeks, I flashed a custom rom onto my phone called Evolution X. After Finishing the install process, I copied over my important files to the phone. Unfortunately, I had lost some backup. 

--> What is Evolution X ad What is a Custom ROM? 

  Evolution X is an android-based operating system that aims to provide a pixel os like experience while giving amazing features like variety of customization options, Perfomance boosting apps, Tweaks for saving battery and Improving performance. Now, to understand what Custom ROMS are, we need to understand what ROMs are. ROM, in simple words an operating system or software shipped with your phone by default. Your phone ships with android wrapped up in a skin that a company makes. Think of android as a base for the os that your phone ships with. Some examples of skins are OneUI,Funtouch OS,MIUI and so on. And companies have full control over that skin. They can add new feautures and drop the support for the os anytime. Custom ROMs as the name says are custom ports of the android operating system made by independent developers. These ROMs have really amazing features and insane levels of customization. Some popular ROMs are LineageOS,crDroid,PixelOS,Evolution X. Sometimes, Custom ROMs have more features than the stock rom. 

--> Is Installing ROMs difficult? 

  It depends on the person flashing the rom. If you are a beginner, You need to learn how to flash it. I am also a beginner and I flashed Evolution X by reading the guide and watching videos from Rohit Raj Gupta. Also, DO NOT follow videos to install custom roms. Only read the guide on the website. If you research a bit, keep patience, You are good to go. 

--> Will all Apps work?  

 It depends on the ROM you are flashing. In some ROMs, banking apps and certain apps don't work but in some ROMs every apps work flawlessly. In my case, only banking apps don't work. Rest of the apps are working fine. 

--> Does it give a performance boost?  

 Yes, Custom ROM gives a performance boost on older phones as it is highly optimised and does not contain any bloatwares.

 Now, I'll share my experience with Evolution X on the POCO M2 Pro: 

It has only been a day since I installed this rom on my phone. My phone definitely feels more faster and a lot smoother. It also has many customization features and perfomance boosting features baked in. Also, my battery life has significantly improved. It lasts about 10 hours - 15 hours on Battery Saver mode. Everything works except Banking apps. tbh, if you want a pixel like experience with awesome features and customization options, go for it. If you have an old phone that is lying around and you think has potential, Flash a compatible custom rom onto it. It will breathe a new life into the phone.

Trying to make my own superhero universe

 Hello, Everybody! This is Aarav once again with a new blog. I have gotten a new laptop too! It's a Macbook air 2017 which handles tasks really well!
